Psychology defines comfort zone as a space in which a person feels familiar and safe - “at ease”. This comfort is not related to any external factors, it is more psychological.
For example, for some people, a comfortable life will not be a zone of comfort, because they are used to living in tension and stress.
Comfort zone is a familiar, well-established action or behavior that leads to a familiar and expected result. It seems that there is some kind of stability in this zone. Life is always a little bit up and down, and you may feel like being on skates or a skateboard, meaning, if you don’t make enough efforts, you know that you fall.
Here are signs that you are already in a comfort zone and are afraid to fall into a zone of risk, testing and stress, which can lead to unexpected results and success:
Termination of studies
If you think that the time to study has passed after you graduated from a university, then you are definitely in the comfort zone. You perceive the new information with difficulty and unwillingness, you probably live according to your parents' family attitudes and are probably skeptical of unusual and fresh ideas.
“If we were not born rich, there’s nothing to start with”, “A lot of new things, but little good ones”, “Better little than nothing” - this and other attitudes is bunch of folk wisdom that you need to get out of your head if you want to become the person who controls your life and changes reality around you.
The Groundhog Day, i.e being stuck in the routine
When one day does not differ from the previous one, and it already begins to seem to you that you are “a copy taken from a copy made from another copy”.
And you either do not believe that you can change something, or, most likely, are afraid.
But the curse of the Groundhog Day will not break until you look into your fear and take a step beyond your comfort.
If a person stops wondering and strives for new goals, then he or she does not just stop growing and developing - they are degrading, that is, getting old before their time. Life is a process in which there can be no stop. There is a movement either forward or backward. Such a state as stopping and being stationary does not exist in nature.
Lack of new acquaintances
If in recent months or even years your environment has not changed and has not been replenished with new friends or acquaintances, then this is another sign that you are stuck in a prolonged comfort zone.
Our environment is our reflection. It becomes unpleasant when our roads with certain people diverge. But these painful moments - parting with loved ones and friends - are also a movement forward.
Every person we meet should be treated as a teacher, and we should be thankful for the lessons they have brought with them.
Low energy, no inspiration
Staying for too long in the comfort zone may lead to the lack of goals and plans or fear to think more, because this is also a way out of the usual. The level of energy and the desire to create decreases, inspiration disappears, which can also lead to a decrease in the material level of comfort.
A person gets used to uncomfortable and destructive conditions - these can be co-dependent relationships, poor living conditions, and neglect of one’s own health and appearance.
The thought that everything will resolve by itself
Of course, your universe will take care of you. Perhaps it already sends you signs, opportunities and indicates the shortest way to solve problems and fulfill your desires. But in order to accept something in your life, you need to be open and ready for it. And, most likely, this also lies outside the comfort zone - along the path of your fears and doubts.
Perhaps all that is required of you is to take that very first step.
